There's even this quote, which, modernized slightly, would fit perfectly into any of the Bartimaeus books: Ariel: Your charm so strongly works 'em Though Jonathan Stroud has expressed interest in the idea that Nathaniel survived the end of Ptolemy's Gate by having his spirit dragged alongside Bartimaeus to the Other Place But that would condemn him to an eternity It seems rather unlikely that just three "levels" make a difference so huge. Bartimaeus was AMAZING as usual but I wanted more of him and less of Kitty.Some parts were a little boring and the book could easily have been a little shorter. I had mixed feelings about `The Amulet of Samarkand', the first book in the trilogy, but enjoyed the second volume and loved the third, `Ptolemy's Gate'.
